Hey to everyone that is still reading this blog!
On this date, ten years ago I posted the first post on the blog (it was an
introduction post), so I wanted to say a few things about the blog. Ten years
ago I was unemployed (I was fired from my job during the Summer of 2014.) and I
had a lots of free time so I figured out that I want to use the free time for
writing more about music that I like which is mostly hardcore punk and that's
when I decided to start this blog. At the beginning the blog was just another
excuse to write even more about Tear It Up which was and still is my favorite
hardcore punk band ever (like I didn't already write enough about Tear It Up in
my zine) and to share my deep thoughts
about Tear It Up records. But at the same time the motive for writing the blog
about hardcore punk music was and still is that I want to present some deep
dives on some of my favorite bands and records but also to provide correct
information about the bands and records that I write about because there are
way too many incorrect info and lousy researched articles about hardcore punk
bands on the internet. I also wanted to provide the download links for some of
the records and zines I like. Basically this blog was and still is just another
media tool for my appreciation for hardcore punk music that I'm deeply into. Of
course, I also used the blog for writing and putting photos of the bands where
I've played in the last 10 or more years.
Of course, the name of the blog was chosen from
the Tear It Up song and a record: Just Can't Stand It! but I couldn't use it
for the blog domain because it seems someone already used it on blogspot so at first
the blog domain was zerotosuicidal but few years ago, I've changed it to
playtodestroy and both of those are also Tear It Up references. I know that
this can be confusing but the official name of the blog is Just Can't Stand It!
despite the different blog domain.
As for the statistics of the blog, there was a
period when I was regulary checking out the blog statistics and I was amazed
how the blog was viewed from bunch of countries from all over the world. As for
the number of post views, not every post has a lots of views but there are some
with large number of views, especially some of the older posts which is pretty
solid for a blog about hardcore punk music.
To be honest, I wrote regulary and most for the
blog in the first few years of the blog existence and I've already slowed down
during the 2018. which didn't changed much to this day. The good thing is that
my absence on the blog lately was because I finally finished the 20th issue of
International Old School Conspiracy fanzine which was in the making fot the last
few years. So, hopefully now that I've finished the last issue of the zine I'm
gonna have more time for writing for the blog but I don't think that I will post
as often as I was in the beginning.
In the last few years I've mostly dedicated the
blog writing to deep dives into every Black Flag record and so far I wrote
about the first four Black Flag EP's which means that the next post about Black
Flag is a deep dive into Damaged LP. I won't promise anything but it would be
cool if I finish the Damaged post until the end of this year. I also wrote
about early period of D. R. I. which is the last post on the blog that I posted
last year.
These days the blogs are not popular as they
were 20, 15 or even 10 years ago but it's like I always said, even if a small number of people
read my posts and get something out of it, that's cool and I'm OK with that.
I'm not really sure what's my acomplishment with the blog except the one that I
already said before, to provide passionate and well researched posts about
hardcore punk bands and records that I like and that I want to share with the
world. And I guess I did that and I'm not stopping although don't expect that I
will be posting every month. You can also read some of my writing about music
on my Instagram profil:
Also, thanks to everyone reading the blog and to few ones who wrote some comments during the years, I really appreciate it!
